On a bright May afternoon, Gabrielle and Justin exchanged vows at The Sinclair of Skaneateles, a historic chair factory-turned-wedding venue on the shores of Cayuga Lake. The day was filled with sunshine, laughter, and vibrant colors that complemented the venue’s industrial charm. The restored factory, first established in 1871 on the banks of Skaneateles Creek, provided a one-of-a-kind backdrop for their special day. The couple made the most of its versatility, taking advantage of both the outdoor courtyard for their ceremony and the expansive indoor space for the reception, creating an unforgettable wedding experience for themselves and their guests.
A Spring Wedding at The Sinclair
The Ceremony
Gabrielle and Justin’s ceremony took place in the picturesque outdoor space at The Sinclair of Skaneateles, where a brick path led to a wooden altar adorned with beautiful flowers in shades of mauve, pink, and white. Guests were seated on antique wooden pews, surrounded by the venue’s natural greenery and blooming flowers.
The wedding party made their grand entrance down the aisle to the romantic melody of “I Will Always Love You Forever” by Donna Lewis. The bridesmaids, wearing elegant pale mauve dresses, carried bouquets overflowing with soft white, green, and pale pink blossoms designed by Arnold’s Flower Shop. The groomsmen looked sharp in classic black suits, their mauve ties perfectly complementing the bridesmaids’ dresses.
Finally, Gabrielle, escorted by both of her parents, walked down the aisle to “Pink & White” by Kim Bo. As she met Justin under the floral-adorned chuppah, the couple embarked on a traditional Jewish ceremony, including the meaningful exchange of rings and the symbolic breaking of the glass.
Cocktail Hour
Following the ceremony, guests strolled through the Inn’s beautifully landscaped grounds to the outdoor bar area for cocktail hour. The outdoor space, surrounded by trees, provided an inviting scene for catching up and celebrating. The rustic outdoor bar was decorated with fresh greenery and served up refreshing cocktails, while servers circulated with trays of delicious appetizers. String lights also hung from the trees overhead, adding a warm glow to the scene as the afternoon sun began to fade. Lively conversation filled the air as guests mingled, their laughter echoing through the courtyard. It was a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, the perfect way to transition into the evening’s festivities.
The Reception
As the evening continued, the celebration moved indoors to The Sinclair’s stunning reception space. Guests were greeted by a spacious room with large framed windows, tall ceilings accented by rustic chandeliers, and a tall stone fireplace serving as a focal point. Exposed brick walls and polished concrete floors added to the industrial yet rustic ambiance.
Before dinner, guests found their seats at long, wooden tables draped with white tablecloths and rose gold place settings. The centerpieces included tall, clear vases overflowing with floral arrangements matching the wedding party’s colors, woven greenery, and flickering candlelight. Above the couple’s sweetheart table, a custom-made sign reading “The Buchbinders” added a personal touch, while a dedicated “In Loving Memory” display on a nearby wall featured framed photos of loved ones.
The newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a series of heartfelt toasts, speeches, and blessings to kick off dinner. Then, the talented culinary team at Rosalie’s Cucina delighted guests with a mouthwatering family-style dinner featuring tenderloin, scallops, chicken piccata, and a vegetarian pasta dish.
For dessert, The Cake Shop CNY provided a stunning trio of white cakes, each designed with intricate floral designs that echoed the wedding’s springtime color palette. A large, multi-tiered cake took center stage, flanked by two smaller ones, creating a visual masterpiece that tasted as delicious as it looked.
The Dance Floor
The dance floor got started with Gabrielle and her father sharing a dance to “Who Knows Where the Time Goes” by Eva Cassidy. The emotion continued as Justin and his mother took the floor for their mother-son dance, swaying to “Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder.
Then, the energy in the room shifted as the traditional Jewish horah kicked off the open dance floor. Guests quickly filled the dance floor to lift the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs, a time-honored tradition that symbolized joy and celebration.
As the night continued, the mix of classic hits and contemporary bops had something for everyone. Usher, Drake, Justin Bieber, and The Killers blared through the speakers, as well as a few throwback tunes, ensuring that the dance floor remained packed throughout the night. Friends and family laughed, sang along, and danced their hearts out.
