Venue & Vendor Team
On this beautiful overcast August day at the Lansing NY wedding venue Dutch Harvest Farm, we celebrated the marriage of Hanna and Brian. For their wedding ceremony and reception, I provided wedding DJ services as well as wedding décor uplighting in the reception area and our special effect “dancing on a cloud” for their first dance. Our day started out with guests arriving to the covered wedding ceremony site right next to the reception venue of the Dutch Harvest Farm properties. Before taking my spot to run ceremony sound, I checked in with my wedding photographer, Tyler of Beanart Photography. Tyler is a Rochester based wedding photographer whose wonderful photos can be seen in this blog. Hanna & Brian’s ceremony was a beautiful intimate ceremony in front of the venues pond complete with close friend musicians playing the music on keyboard and violin, and a tree planting ceremony just before sharing vows with each other. After the wedding party recessional, we were all welcomed to the cocktail hour location on the patio of the Dutch Harvest Barn.
Cocktail, Introductions & First & Parents Dance
As guests mingled, a wide mix of country music and classic rock songs where played in the background until guests were invited inside for the wedding reception portion of the evening. The inside décor of Dutch Harvest Farm look beautiful from the décor and design from the work of Aurora Social an event planning and designer service centrally based in the Finger Lakes. As everyone made their way into the Dutch Harvest Barn, I got all the wedding party staged for their wedding party introductions. Guests got excited as I welcomed in the wedding party with the conclusion of Hanna & Brian making their way to the middle of the dance floor to grab the microphone from me to share a few quick words and thanked their guests for being part of their special day. At the conclusion of the couples welcoming, we went right in the first dance which the song was a surprise to guests and ended up being “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait. This was a surprise because Hanna’s parents shared their first dance together when they were married to the same song. The couples first dance together received an enormous cheer from guest as we dropped our dancing on a cloud effect that covered the entire dance floor and engulfed Hanna & Brian. At the end of the couple’s first dance, I introduced Hanna’s father Steven out to the dance floor to join Hanna for the father daughter dance. Hanna and Steven started to dance to “Half the Man” by Jennifer Hart and halfway through the song I invited all fathers and daughter to join them on the dance floor. After the father daughter dance was complete I then invited Brian out to the dance floor to join his mother Rena as they began to dance to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts and invited all mothers and sons to join them on the dancefloor to finish the dance all together.
Dinner & Dancing
Transitioning from the parent dances and a quick blessing from Brian’s mother Rena we shared a moment listening to a few toasts from Hanna’s Father and best friend Erica followed by Brian’s brother Randy and mutual friend of the couple Derrick to close out the evenings toast. After toast and dinner came to an end, I opened the dance floor with a generations dance honor all married couples and went right into dancing for the rest of the night with a full dance floor where I even looked up at one point to see a dinosaur on the floor and the groom Brian being carried through the crowd. The evening ended with guest signing alone to along to L.O.V.E. by Nat King Cole.
